53 Stars Have Turned From Blue to Gold

As of this morning, 53 American soldiers have been killed this month.

53 Stars Have Turned From Blue to Gold.

53 families have broken hearts.

53 brave men have paid the ultimate price for our freedoms.

Think about it.

Imagine 53 people you know all in a room.

Imagine the room now empty.

53 of our Soldiers are gone.

The place they held in their family, in their community is now empty.

May Almighty God Bless each and every Airman, Soldier, Sailor and Marine.

A horrible milestone with more troops needed. I pray for the families and friends of these honorable warriors.

The Taliban sees weakness in our current leader. It will only embolden them as long as he remains tentative in his decisions. I fear it will get worse.

I have some "ideas" about that.

A sad milestone.

The Taliban do not see our President as weak so much as they see us as weak. And they definitely see the poor example of a government in Afghanistan as weak. Success in Afghanistan is necessary, but will not be attained by fire power alone. A complicated and intricate situation that demands we be diligent, dedicated, and flexible.

May God rest their souls!
Until we meet again.

My prayers are with the 53 gold star families today. My 22 year old son is fighting in Afghanistan as we speak. He called me a few days ago and said the reason he was calling was so I could hear his voice before he and his fellow brothers in arms went out for this next mission. God Bless all of our Men and Women in all Branches of Service.

I went to a football game the other night and I sat in front of a woman who was wearing a t-shirt with a photo on it that said, "My fallen hero". I asked her about it and her son had died a couple of years ago but in the short time I chatted with her I realized the pain was still fresh. Still too real. When we all stood to sing the National Anthem I turned again to her to reach out and squeeze her hand and I noticed we both had tears streaming down our face. Both of us mourning the loss of her son.

Thank you again for all that YOU do to bring honor to the fallen. You are a blessing.
