Protesters

There were protesters on the train platform handing out pamphlets on the evils of America.

I politely declined to take one.

An elderly woman was behind me getting off the escalator and a young (20-ish) female protester offered her a pamphlet, which she politely declined.

The young protester put her hand on the old woman's shoulder as a gesture of friendship and in a very soft voice said, "Lady, don't you care about the children of Iraq?"

The old woman looked up at her and said, "Honey, my father died in France during World War II, I lost my husband in Korea, and a son in Vietnam.

All three died so you could have the right to stand here and bad mouth our country.

If you touch me again. I'll stick this umbrella up your arse and open it."

mm...you took the words right out of my mouth!

mm...when the flag is worn backwards on the right shoulder, it is symbolic of the wind blowing behind our soldier as they march into battle. It's a reminder that our nation is at war.
It's for real!

Right on old woman! Those wise words came from a life that has seen plenty.
God bless that lady! On second thought I think he already has.
He has blessed her with wisdom aplenty.

Airman Mom, Good answer about the flag. The regulations regarding the care and presentation of the flag says that the stars always face forward and when hanging lengthwise the stars must be in the upper left corner. I have stopped at business before who were flying it wrong and told them to change it. If you look at a plane that has a flag on both sides it is the same. If you put a flag sticker on your car make sure the stars are facing forward.

But, I would like to give that woman a medal for defending out country.

People who protest any war we're involved in or have been involved in really get under my skin. I support our troops,I love this country and am thankful we have people willing to put their lives on the line for us.

God Bless the troops!
