My Son is Going to Afghanistan

The world knows him as this guy....

My heart knows him as this little guy...
B...I love you so!

Please join me daily in prayer for my son.
Please join me daily in prayer for every son and daughter serving our nation:

Prayer for Protection

The light of God surrounds you,
The love of God enfolds you,
The power of God protects you,
And the presence of God watches over you;
Wherever you are, God is.
Amen.

I know well the mixture of feelings that must be running through you right now..the pride, the fear. My thougts and prayers are with you, your son, and your family. Please tell him thank you for everything he is going to be doing and let him know that we appreciate him putting his life on hold to serve his country. I will be praying daily for his safe return.

jeanne...thank you so very much for your kind words. As I told you in our e-mail exchange...there is a big pot of Vegetable Soup of Emotion boiling over! Several cups of Pride, with a teaspoon of fear. I've been through my son being deployed many times over the years...the reality of him going is always the biggest hurdle. Once I grasp my bearings, it's all good. Oh Bearings...where are you?
Isn't it about now, I tell myself what I say to everyone else...Stay Strong and Pray Hard!
Thank you, Jeanne!

I have to admit that my first thought when I saw your post was, "Oh crap." It is the kind of thing a mother thinks when she worries for her children. And yet, I know how proud you are of your son. I will pray for you to get your bearings, your strength and your courage in sending your precious boy off to war. And I will pray for his safety and well being.

May he come home whole and sound and continue to be the little boy you will always remember. Wish him luck for me.

AM,

I will certainly pray for your son. He is a handsome man and was such a cute little boy. I will also pray for all those who are deployed and serving their country at home.

hallie...B leaves the end of February. Please let me know if CJ is coming thru BWI, it would be an honor to wish him well with a hug! I'm planning to meet Shay this weekend at BWI, before she deploys.

bonnie...you are a sweetheart and I do appreciate you!

joyce...B wanted this opportunity to deploy, while still serving in the USAF Reserves. He is going with only a few and it is only a three month deployment! He told me a while back he would be deploying after the first of the year...but that was last year, when 'next year' was so far away!!!
Even though I knew the call was coming to tell me of his deployment...mom tears rolled.
You and your son are in my prayers!

coffeypot...how am I to read these other comments when I have my fingers in my ears, my eyes shut tight and am singing 'la-la-la, I can't read you'???? Too funny!
Of course I will e-mail you my son's address, but do you have to keep telling me what is going to be in the box?
You know I love ya, my friend! Your support is most welcome...just keep the details away from Momma ;)

jojo...I do appreciate you!

AM, I really feel for you. You are so proud of them for being brave and honorable and serving their country, yet you probably fear greatly for his safety.

My son-in-law is probably going to Afghanistan too, once he's finished with some training soon. My heart and prayers go out to both of you.

AM ~ my heart dropped....I can't even imagine. Of course your son will be lifted in prayer as well as you and the rest of your family. Not a day goes by that we don't thank God for our service men and women and ask His protection to surround them. If there's anything else I can do please let me know.

Hey Mom,
My young Airman leaves Tuesday for Afghanistan. He cannot say where he is going, and cannot take a phone. My friend's Airman is also in Afghanistan on a base with a TGIFriday's. Somehow I think My son isn't going there! I will pray for yours; please pray for mine!
