The good thing is, regardless of the outcome (he resigned - kinda)Gen Mac told the truth and he has nothing to be ashamed of. He can hold his head high. I think he should retire and then tell the world what he was up against. Mainly that he was being lead by an incompetent leader.
I agree coffeepot. In my opinion he didn't do anything wrong. There is nothing in the military rules that says you have to respect the man, you only have to respect the rank they hold. Gen Mac did that, he didn't disrespect the office or the president, and as a result he "resigned" because he spoke his mind.

I respectfully disagree with both Coffeypot and Cubrooski.
The general acted unprofessionally and should be ashamed of himself for his actions and those of his aides.
Chain of Command is serious business. The General and his aides forgot what that meant.
My father, a career officer who retired with one star, would have been the first one to say this.
