Thursday Thought-We Salute You!

U.S. Army Capt. Mark D. Nettles salutes during retreat of the national colors at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, Oct. 31, 2008. Nettles is the detachment commander for Foxtrot Detachment, 2nd Battalion, 43rd Air Defense Artillery, 11th Air Defense Artillery Brigade. The detachment is on a 15-month deployment to provide maintenance/supply support to the PATRIOT missile system.

National Veterans Awareness Week is quickly coming to an end. As we enter the Holiday Season, it should only be the beginning of our thoughts, prayers and deeds for our Airman, Soldiers, Sailors and Marines. I challenge every reader to visitSoldiers'Angels and AdoptaPlatoon. Please reach into your heart, reach into your pocket and remember those who are sacrificing their everyday lives. The everyday lives of their children, spouses, parents, grandparents, cousins are upside-down, while these brave heroes serve our country in Iraq and Afghanistan. Our country is filled with injured soldiers laying in Medical Hospitals. Their families deserve a Holiday Season filled with joy and laughter. Is there anything you can do?

We need to remember the true reason of this season.

It is the season of Thanksgiving, it is the season of Giving, it is the season of LOVE!

AM,
My scrapbook club has voted to adopt a platoon and we already have two boxes of goodies to send their way.
Thank you for keeping this in the forefront of our minds.

Great post. I really like reading your blog. Keep it up, of course I am partial to Air Force types after 21 years in it. Ha.
