They Did Their Share
On Veteran’s Day we honor
Soldiers who protect our nation.
For their service as our warriors,
They deserve our admiration.
Some of them were drafted;
Some were volunteers;
For some it was just yesterday;
For some it’s been many years;
In the jungle or the desert,
On land or on the sea,
They did whatever was assigned
To produce a victory.
Some came back; some didn’t.
They defended us everywhere.
Some saw combat; some rode a desk;
All of them did their share.
No matter what the duty,
For low pay and little glory,
These soldiers gave up normal lives,
For duties mundane and gory.
Let every veteran be honored;
Don’t let politics get in the way.
Without them, freedom would have died;
What they did, we can’t repay.
We owe so much to them,
Who kept us safe from terror,
So when we see a uniform,
Let’s say "thank you" to every wearer.

I dont know if I can define a veteran any better than Joanna Fuchs.
The men and women who are so proudly serving our country mean so much to me. Everything we have we owe to them. May God watch over and protect them each and every one...
tonjia...you said it beautifully! Thank you for stopping by.
Beautiful words. God bless and protect our troops. Thanks to them all.
Veteran's Day changed for me in 2006. It will always be the day I remember as the day I got the call telling my son David was critcally ill with a staph infection.
I try to say thank you to all the men and women I see in uniform. I do say a quick silent prayer of thanks for them. They are all very brave for what they do, so that I may sleep peacefully.
grandma...my heart goes out to you.
megryansmom...no doubt your 'thank you' and prayers are deeply appreciated by all of our servicemen and women. Have you clicked on the Gratitude Campaign, I have on the right sidebar? It is a beautiful video, and the message is one I heed each day.
To them we owe our freedom. And our lives.
We owe them our precious freedom. God bless them all and keep them safe.
david...well said! Thank you for stopping by!
donna...precious is the key word! SO nice of you to stop by.
May God bless and protect every deployed soldier and bring him/her safely home.
In Canada we celebrate Remembrance Day to pay tribute to our veterans. However, I pray for all soldiers that God will keep them safe from harm.
My uncle landed at Dieppe. He was wounded there and then went on to Caan France, where he was critically wounded. It took him months to heal and then he was shipped home. We would not have the freedoms we have today if not for those who have fought. God bless each one.
Blessings,
Mary
mary...we are blessed to be neighbors and to have the freedom to remember those who have fought for our countries!
