Talking Tuesday

There is an interesting article in 'Stars and Stripes', which discusses tattoos.

Here is a snippet of the article:
MUQDADIYAH, Iraq — Flag-draped hearts, flame-licked skulls, the names of fallen friends — in the U.S. military, tattoos sometimes seem almost required.
For Iraqi troops, though, tattoos — often a sign of a stint in prison — are taboo. The Iraqi army has passed a rule forbidding them, requiring soldiers with pre-existing tattoos to remove them.
You can read the entire article here.

I have no tattoos and no intention of getting some ink. You see, three out of four of my babies were delivered naturally (NO meds). That much self-inflicted pain is more than enough for one lifetime. Do you have a tattoo? Where is it located on your body? What is the artwork? Why did you choose this tattoo? How old were you when you got your first tattoo? Will you get another tattoo?

Your turn........

Nope never. I don't normally like tattoos at all but I make an exception when it comes to folks with military themed ones...that is something that will never go out of style.

I think I was the only person on my ship that didn’t get a tattoo. My dad drove a gas truck for over 30 years and he had to deliver gas to the Atlanta Federal Penitentiary. He drove the truck through the frist gate, had the truck inspected and a trustee would drive the truck into the unloading yard. While he waited there was a prisoner who was putting a tattoo of the American flag on his arm with pencil lead and a straight pin. Half way through the guy was killed and he never got it finished. He always said that he regretted it and advise me that what ever I thought was cool at the time would be stupid later in years. So I listened and didn’t do it. I have been considering one here lately. Don’t know what of or why.

No tats for me. Sometimes when I see an older woman with a tatoo, I think what may have once seemed cool, now just seems silly.

not me, never had the urge but I think this artical is over the top with the removal requirement. to each his own.

Yep, one small one on the lower right side of my back. It is a heart with John's name in it. I was in my 20's and don't regret it for a couple of reasons. One, it's in a place that no one sees unless I want them to. Two, with age it will probably not look too bad (guess it depends how much my back skin sags!) And three, it has the love of my lifes name in it which means a lot to me.

Oh, and as the tattoo artist pointed out... if things don't work out with JOhn and I (after 23 years, I don't think thats gonna happen!) it would be easy enough to find another guy with the name John!

Problem solved! :)

AM,

No tattoos for this girl. I have thought of having a rose or butterfly put on my ankle, but that was years ago. I don't mind a tattoo, as long as it has some significance. My husband has one of a unicorn on his forearm. My name is beneath it but he got it in his younger days. I do however like military tattoos.

Hope you're having a great week.
Blessings,
Mary

My Dad (USAF) had an eagle on his chest with lightning bolts in one claw and arrows in the other.

He was one of those guys who could make his pecs move and he would do one and then the other when we were kids...it made the eagle move.

Myself, I never thought it would be a good idea to get drunk in a city I have never been before and let a perfect stranger draw a permanent picture on me.

But I understand the notion ;-)

No tats here. 21 years military, and seen lots of young guys get them, but not this old soldier.

No tats on me, but my husband has several of them. Even though the tattoo guidelines have loosened in the army since he joined, he sticks to what he was told 12 years ago - nothing visible in a Class A uniform. nothing below the wrists, on the neck, etc. I like tattoos if they're done tastefully.

You know all about mine. I have three....one on my front right hip that I've had for 21 years now (it's a butterfly on a rose vine), a lower back tattoo that says "Faith" with flowers, that I got while going through my divorce almost 4 years ago, and my newest one last month, the cherry blossoms on my left shoulder....

I'm sure I'm not done. :) I'm just running out of places to put them that can't be seen when I'm wearing clothes!

Nary a one. They're not like clothing which can be replaced with next year's style or a hairdo which can grow out and be reshaped. I'm just not a fan.

Thanks for your visit to my blog. It was so nice of you to stop by from David's (Authorblog). :)
