To Let You Know.....
US flags are flown at half-staff in Washington Monument in the US capital 27 July 2009, following the US government's decision to designate 27 July as "National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day" in memory of Americans killed in the 1950-53 Korean War.

It's about time the men of 'The Forgotten War' got some recognition and the respect due them. One of my first non-baseball heroes when I was a kid was my friend’s older brother who came home from Korea. He had a hard time adjusting much like our guys now. But he is doing great, now. Very successful in the insurance industry. I love the Korean War Memorial on the Mall, too. It's so lifelike in detail. Have you seen it?
I would love to see this in person...it is breathtaking. And it is about time.
coffeypot...I have had the honor of visiting the Korean War Memorial, simply amazing design! Thanks for stopping by.
jojo...truly, it is well worth the time to visit this beautiful memorial. "OUR NATION HONORS HER SONS AND DAUGHTERS WHO ANSWERED THE CALL TO DEFEND A COUNTRY THEY NEVER KNEW AND A PEOPLE THEY NEVER MET." is the inscription at the pool of remembrance. Truly touching!
Hey AM, just trying to get caught up on my blog reading. Happy Thursday!
Thank you for sharing this info. I did not know it. My father served in the Korean War.
I would love to photograph this in person. Thank you so much for bringing it to our attention.
God Bless,

AM,
It's been a long time coming. I'm thankful that these heroes have finally been officially recognized.
Blessings,
Mary
While taking a lunch break this week at Ft XXXX, I ran into an old dude....He had a "Vet" hat on...so I had to ask. He was a veteran of WWII, Korea and VN.
I was able to obtain enough info to write a post later on.
I hope we can stop having wars soon and our military will only complain about getting bored.
Beautiful, and long past time.
WOW - another story the media forgot to mention....
