Monday Musings

It was a great weekend! John came home! Both my daughters, their husbands and all three of my beautiful grandgirls came over on Saturday for an Independence Day/ Birthday Bash! So much fun! I am truly blessed!
John came home on Thursday night. He got in late, since he drove after work. It is always so good to see him! The weekend always feels like a whirlwind, a great whirlwind! And then *poof* we are sharing a hug and saying, "I love you!" Off to Wright-Patt he goes, off to his world. And the Mom-Tears flow. I'm proud of him, I know he is doing what he is meant to do...but he is my son, my baby.

While John was in town, he gave me the addresses of two of his deployed fellow Airmen. If you wish to send along a letter or package, please e-mail me for these addresses.

So today is Monday. A new week. Good news... sad news! One of the two American Soldiers killed by the Taliban is the son of a blogger friend. Please lift your prayers for this family. I can't begin to understand the hurt in their hearts.

Tomorrow is Tuesday! While most of the world will be focusing on the memorial service of Michael Jackson...I will be focused on MudPuppy's birthday. the seventh of July marks the birth of a brave soldier, a talented writer and a loved VirtuaSon! Tomorrow's post will be dedicated to MudPuppy... just because!

In the Sunday edition of the Washington Post, there was a letter to the editor from the aunt of a soldier. This brave young soldier, Brian Bradshaw was killed by an IED on June 25th...the same day Michael Jackson died. Did her nephew receive any media time? NO! Congress had a moment of silence for Michael Jackson. Was there a moment of silence for this soldier killed as he protected our nation? NO! Does President Obama send letters of condolence to the families of all fallen soldiers? I'm not sure if he does, but he did send one to the Jackson family. Am I the only one outraged by this injustice? Michael Jackson is an entertainer. PERIOD! Brian Bradshaw was an altar boy, a camp counselor, and very old-fashioned for he believed that military service was patriotic. Paul Bradshaw said his son Brian joined the Army and went to Afghanistan “to try and help people” and to make the lives of the people there better. He died defending us. He died defending his country. He died defending his brothers. Does he not deserve as much media attention, if not more...than any entertainer.

Your turn......

I'll take an address....

and I'll not fill the box with a rant over the king of weirdness' untimely demise.

although I could

believe me...I could

Me, too.

And don't try to understand anything Obama does or doesn't do. He is too full of himself to be concerned with a military type person whom he hates anyway.

Great point AMom!
I'm so glad you're here to remind us of those issues that are truly important.

Hope you had a great 4th and thanks for the heads up on MudPuppy's birthday!

So glad you wrote that last paragraph. It is so important to remember the people that SHOULD be remembered...the men and women that defend our country so that entertainers can entertain us. You are so right that the country has got it backwards. Thanks for taking a stand.

Looks like you had a great weekend.

I'm so over the Jackson crap. When I saw last night that Al Sharpton is trying to get a HOLIDAY declared for him, and/or a national moment of silence, I was literally yelling at the TV and saying "He was a freak and a pedophile! Do we forget that all of a sudden because he died of undoubtedly a DRUG OVERDOSE?"

Arrrgh. What is wrong with this country?

A druggie, get media coverage, like he was some kind of royality, but our brave men and women got diddly squat! WTF!

I am happy you got whatever time you can with your son, an oppertunity for more meories.

The media, journalism is dead, please don't get me started.

Did you see my post about Ft McHenry for the bicentinnal 1976.

Ahhhh, AmnMom, you've hit the bell with this post! You started with the wonderful joy of family for the 4th of July; and ended with the disgust over the the contrast between the fascination with death of drug abuser and possible pedophile who hated himself so much that he tried to change his appearance and the death of a patriot and true hero who "just wanted to help people." Like many of those who have commented here, I share your disgust... Some people sure do have their priorities mixed-up. I wonder why a man who was a joke became a National icon, just becaue he died unexpectedly. It is another example of how fickle "the public mob" can be.

You have a beautiful family! So glad you were able to see them over the weekend.
It always amazes me to see what people have set as their priorities. I know that I can count on your postings to keep reminding us of what is truly important. Friends tend to get a little tired of my talk about supporting our soldiers, but I agree with you that there are few things more important.

Blessing to you and your family. Many thoughts and prayers to all of our brave soldiers.

Sad it's up to bloggers to honour our military because the media, congress and our President is busy attending memorial services for entertainers.

I would LOVE those addresses, my guy will be home soon and I'm in the habit of mailing out [ackages-- I'd hate to go cold turkey :-)

I am SO sorry for your friend (and our country)'s loss.

Happy birthday to mudpuppy!

Great looking family! I'm glad you got to spend time with them.

You are 100% correct about this MJ coverage. It is sickening they way they are deifying that piece of crap. He deserves none of this attention.

congrats to you on on David's POTD mention!!

By the way , the President DOES sent letters of condolence to the families of fallen soldiers... and THIS President thinks that those who died should be honored when their caskets arrive back on our shores, unlike the previous one

Just catching up on some of your posts now, and thought I'd take time and point out that on cnn.com - there are 10 headlines about michael jackson's memorial service - headline 11 is " 7 soldiers killed in 2 days in afghanistan ".....guess we know what's more important, right? this country has some really screwed up priorities, (general statement - I know most people reading this are awesome people who support our troops every day!)

Elizabeth Bradley said...

So tragic, the lack of voiced appreciation, just remember many of us are out here supporting and admiring America's troops.

I'm glad David featured you, this post deserves a POTD if any post does.
